International Day of People with Disability
‘I am part of your community’
International Day of People with Disability is held every year on 3 December, an initiative of the United Nations aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
Here at Endeavour Foundation, we are marking this important day by celebrating the disability community and shining a spotlight on the people we support.
This year, we’ve linked in with our landmark My Home, My Life initiative to share the stories of some of our home residents in the Sunshine Coast region, and what they like about being part of their neighbourhood and community.

Meet the stars!
Kevin lives in Gympie and loves his job working at the local high school as a teacher’s aide. In his free time, he enjoys going to the gym and completing prize-winning diamond art.
Meaghan lives in Pelican Waters and loves getting out into the sunshine. Tennis, yoga, bocce, you name it, Meaghan does it.
Clayton lives in Nambour and is a footy fanatic. He loves getting along to games, meeting mates at the pub, and getting to the nearest beach for a dip.
Tricia lives in Buderim and loves going for a walk to grab a coffee each day. She is an active part of her community and has been part of a local dance group for more than 10 years. Tricia is a fashion enthusiast and takes any opportunity to dress up and look her best.
For 70 years we have championed the rights of people with disability and supported them to live their best life. Whether it is to learn a new skill, live independently, socialise and make new friends, find a job or connect with their community.
