What Happens at Work

Families and Support Coordinators can feel confident knowing every workplace is safe, structured and designed to build skills at your pace.

When you work with us, you will join a team that is supportive and focused on helping you engage in work that you can be proud of.

You can join Supported Employment if you:

  • Have an intellectual disability

Yes. You will be paid for the work you do. We will explain how your pay is set and help you understand how it works with your Disability Support Pension before you start.

Not necessarily. Many people keep part of their Disability Support Pension while working. We will help you understand how work affects your payments and can assist with reporting to Services Australia, so you feel confident and in control.

That depends on your goals and what works best for you. Most people work part-time hours that fit around their lifestyle and supports. We will work with you to set a roster that meets your needs.

You will have support before, during and after you start work. This includes:

  • On-site supervisors and job coaches
  • Visual reminders and structured routines
  • Flexible hours and regular breaks
  • Tasks matched to your skills and comfort level

We will make sure you always have the right help to feel confident and succeed.

Families, carers and Support Coordinators can play an important role in your employment journey. If you agree, we can share updates about your progress and involve them in meetings or planning.

We want everyone in your support network to feel informed and confident.

That is completely okay. Many people feel the same way before they start. We will take things at your pace, help you build confidence and teach you everything you need to know on the job.
