Individualised Living Options for People with Disability

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is a type of NDIS support that helps you design the assistance you need in a home you choose.

It is for people who want more flexibility, independence and control over how they live.

If you want to live on your own, with housemates or with a host arrangement, and you do not need full-time on-site support, ILO may be the right fit for you.

ILO does not fund the home itself. It funds the support model you build around your own home or the home you choose to live in.

Our team works with you, your family and your support network to design a safe, supportive and personalised living arrangement that matches your goals, routines and needs.

How ILO Works with In-Home Support

ILO gives you the overall living arrangement and the flexibility to choose how you want to live. In-Home Support then provides the daily support you need within that arrangement.

Many people use these supports together, and Endeavour Foundation offers both services so you can build the living setup that works best for you.

With ILO, you design the way you want to live, whether that is on your own, with housemates or in a host arrangement. In-Home Support helps with the daily things you choose, such as cooking, personal care, community access, routines and building skills.

Think of it this way:
ILO is the plan for how you want to live.
In-Home Support is the team that helps you live that plan.

Using both together gives you more choice, independence and control over your support.

Your Questions Answered (FAQs)

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is NDIS funding that helps you design the support you need in the home you choose. It does not fund the home itself. It funds the support model around your daily life, routines and living preferences.

Request a Free Consultation

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is for people who want more independence, do not need 24-hour on-site support and want to make decisions about where they live, who they live with and how they receive support. It is best suited to people who can direct their routines and have a mix of paid and unpaid supports.

If you need higher levels of support or overnight supervision, Supported Independent Living may be a better option.

Individualised Living Options (ILO) funding can be more difficult to receive than other home and living supports. This is because it must be safe, sustainable and clearly linked to your support needs. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) requires strong evidence showing why ILO is the right option for you.

Our team can help you prepare the necessary information and design a support model that meets the criteria.

If your request is not approved, it often means more information is needed. You can request a written explanation of the decision, gather extra evidence and submit a review. Our team can help you strengthen your Individualised Living Options plan, work with your Support Coordinator and guide you through what to do next.

While you review your options, you can also explore Supported Independent Living (SIL), In-Home Support or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to see what might best meet your needs.

No. Individualised Living Options funds the support model, not the home. It does not cover rent, mortgage payments, bills, food or household costs. You can live in a home you rent, own or share.

Individualised Living Options can support a wide variety of arrangements, including living:

  • On your own with flexible drop-in support
  • With chosen housemates
  • With a host family
  • Close to family with a mix of paid and unpaid supports

Your arrangement depends on what is safe, sustainable and right for you.

Individualised Living Options (ILO) funding happens in two stages:

  • Stage 1: Exploration and Design – support to explore your options and design your plan
  • Stage 2: Supports – ongoing funding for the support model you choose

ILO can work alongside other supports, including Capacity Building, Core Supports and Support Coordination.

Individualised Living Options is flexible and designed around your lifestyle. You choose the home and decide who is part of your support network.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) usually happens in staffed homes with rostered support.

If you need higher levels of support or overnight supervision, SIL may be more suitable.

Individualised Living Options funding can include:

  • Support planning
  • Daily living support
  • Community access
  • Help building your skills
  • Assistance to strengthen your support network
  • Problem-solving and monitoring your living arrangement

It does not cover the home itself or regular living expenses.

You can call us, submit an enquiry or book a friendly chat with our team. We will help you understand your options, check whether Individualised Living Options suits your support needs, design your support model and guide you through the first stages of your plan.
