We have a range of respite options including offering choice and flexibility so that you as a carer can take a break while the person you care for enjoys a positive and meaningful experience tailored to their needs.

Respite services include:

Flexi respite

Flexi respite provides short-term, flexible respite to people with a disability. Whatever you would like to do with your couple of hours, our qualified staff will be able to assist in your home or out and about in the community.

Services are available all year round. Available in Queensland in Gladstone, Lawnton, Brisbane & Biloela.

Centre-based day respite

Centre-based day respite provides weekday support to people with a disability in a relaxed, environment, available in Gladstone & Rockhampton.

To be eligible for this service you must live with a carer aged 65 or over, or 55 years for indigenous people. To take part in this service you will need a referral from a Queensland Department of Communities Intake Officer.

Centre-based respite

Centre-based respite provides extended respite services for clients who live at home with a carer. An onsite coordinator and qualified permanent staff provide individualised support from a single night up to two weeks.

A range of activities and outings are available, including games and day trips. Available in Queensland in Innisfail, Biloela, Gladstone, Lawnton, South Brisbane & Rockhampton.

Services are open to people with a disability aged between 6 and 65 years. To take part in this service you will need a referral from a Queensland Department of Communities Intake Officer.

North Queensland Emergency Response Support

Through the Queensland Department of Communities, Endeavour Foundation is able to provide one-off Emergency Response Funding.

This funding provides respite for people with a disability and/or their families who are in urgent need, it includes things like critical carer stress and fatigue, and unexpected changes to living arrangements due to illness or hospitalisation of carers.

In keeping with state government guidelines, Emergency Response Funding is only available to people between the ages of 0-65 who have a disability as defined by the QLD Disabilities Services Act (2006) and reside in the Townsville and Mackay area.

Respite - Children & Youth

Overnight respite

Whether you want to utilise our respite services on a regular or occasional basis you can be sure that we will provide an environment which delivers a positive experience based on fun, with access to social, sporting, learning and recreational programs. Our focus is on catering for your individual needs.

Our respite services also include:

  • Full supervision by qualified and fully screened Youth Development Officers
  • Private and safe spaces
  • Easy booking and access.

Vacation/sibling respite

Vacation or sibling respite is a school holiday program for children with a disability aged 2 to 18 years old, and for primary school-aged siblings. Available in Queensland in Biloela and Gladstone & Rockhampton.


It is a semi-structured program that includes community outings, arts and crafts, and a range of other activities designed to stimulate and entertain children and young people. One-on-one support can be requested.

To take part in this service you will need a referral from a Queensland Department of Communities Intake Officer.
