Minister calls for correct support for people with a disability in visit to Caboolture

Supported employees at Endeavour Foundation Industries Seven Hills are excited about arriving to work tomorrow (Thursday 23 September), when newly elected MP for Greenway Michelle Rowland will visit and present the monthly employee award.

Ms Rowland will attend the 3pm award ceremony and present the award, which celebrates the achievements and commitment of supported employees.

Endeavour Foundation Industries Seven Hills, also known as Clean-Pac, provides supported employment for 100 people with a disability and is one of the largest contract packaging companies in Australia.

"It’s really important to us that we recognise and celebrate the great achievements of supported employees and the efforts they put in here, so they know how valued and appreciated they are," Endeavour Foundation Industries Seven Hills manager Michael Carney said.

"That’s one of the things that sets supported employment apart – Endeavour provides a supportive environment with a strong focus on professional and personal development."

"The award is based on overall achievement, such as the supported employee who has shown the most dedication to producing quality work or commitment to training and up-skilling themselves."

The monthly employee awards are presented by a different VIP each time.

"It makes the occasion that extra bit more special," Michael said.

Michelle said she was delighted to be involved.

"I’m honoured to present Endeavour Foundation's monthly employee award in Seven Hills," she said.

"The employees at Endeavour Foundation Industries Seven Hills do such a great job and it's important to recognise their achievements.

"I speak on behalf of our entire community when I say that the team at Endeavour Foundation do an excellent job working with people with a disability."

Supported employees at the site primarily fulfil pharmaceutical and veterinarian packaging contracts, carrying out tasks such as blistering, bottling, hand assembly tasks, shrink wrapping and flow wrapping.

Endeavour Foundation is the largest employer of people with a disability in Australia, with more than 1,850 supported employees working at 26 sites throughout Queensland and Sydney.

All Endeavour Foundation Industries proceeds go to providing accommodation, education and employment opportunities to people with a disability.
