Take the ‘Op’ to ‘Shop’ in support of people with a disability

Staff and volunteers from Capalaba’s Endeavour Foundation Recycled Clothing store are inviting members of the local community to join them for their first ever Car Park Market Day on Saturday 1 April.

Keen to raise funds and awareness, so that the local charity can help make possibilities a reality for people with a disability, store manager Karen O’Donnell says that by snapping up a great deal, shoppers will be opening up a wide world of opportunity for others.

“As an organisation, we focus on what people can do - their strengths and capabilities. Endeavour Foundation is proud of the contribution people with a disability make to the community, and delighted by the local support we receive for our mission.

“Proceeds from this event will enable our teams to partner with people with a disability to achieve their potential and pursue their dreams.

“As an added treat, we’ll be offering tastings of some of the fabulous food made by people with a disability at Endeavour Foundation’s Kingaroy Kitchen. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!”

Not only is there a sausage sizzle and plentiful bargains on offer, but the event will give shoppers the chance to meet the charity’s wonderful volunteers and learn a little more about Endeavour Foundation.

Glenda McAuslan began volunteering at the store a staggering 15 years ago, and is a core member of the local team.

“I was aware of the good of that Endeavour Foundation did and was familiar with the history when it started at Cooparoo, near where I lived as a child, so when I was looking for volunteering opportunities, I made the decision to join the local store.

“I enjoy serving people and the store managers at Cleveland and Capalaba, along with the many volunteers, make for a very pleasant atmosphere.”

The Car Park Market Day is on from 9am at 11 Dollery Road, Capalaba.
