Three months after a fire that destroyed its main production room, Endeavour Foundation's commercial industries site in Cairns is calling for new business.
More than 60 supported employees are back to work at the site and local manager Danny Pieri said they were looking for new challenges that help build their skills and confidence.
"We are back to business as usual now, providing our employees with a diverse range of job opportunities," said Mr Pieri.
The Cairns site, which has been providing employment opportunities to people with a disability for more than three decades, operates a number of business lines. These include the refurbishment of headsets and packaging of cutlery for major airlines, mailing and collation services, confidential document destruction, food packaging and the sale of industrial cleaning cloths and hardwood stakes and pegs.
"It's important to provide a diverse range of roles and responsibilities to keep our staff engaged and learning," said Mr Pieri.
"We have always appreciated the support of our local businesses who help create that environment by giving us their custom. We would love to hear from more potential clients who are keen to support us, particularly with mailing and collation services."
Mr Pieri said Endeavour Foundation's success in Cairns was largely due to its ability to guarantee consistent and high quality services, delivered by a committed and resourceful group of staff.
"Our supported employees love coming to work every day where they can contribute to their community and develop their skills, including communication, time management and organisational skills," he said.
“All our supported employees are local people and giving Endeavour Foundation the opportunity to meet your business requirements is an investment in their development and training.”
Temporary infrastructure, including power generators and a demountable building fit out to serve as a workroom, have been put in place to keep the worksite operating since the fire on 29 December last year.
The blaze broke out in a newly refurbished lunch room causing major damage to the upper workshop, staff facilities and office.
