Capalaba op shop to celebrate Disability Action Week with a fashion show

Models with from Endeavour Foundation will strut their stuff in a fashion show with a difference to celebrate Disability Action Week (Sept 15 – 22).

Endeavour Foundation’s Capalaba Retail Store will host the parade with a brilliant display of fashions hand-picked and modelled by participants from the organisation’s Alexandra Hills Learning and Lifestyle (L&L) hub.

Manager of Service Delivery Dannielle Eddison said participants from the Alex Hills L&L and been heavily involved in organising the event.

“We’ve been working closely with our Capalaba Retail Store to create volunteering opportunities for the people we support so they can improve their work readiness, social and communication skills” Ms Eddison said.

“It’s really boosting the confidence of our participants so when we asked what they wanted to do for Disability Action Week, it came as no surprise that they wanted an opportunity to showcase their new skills by planning a fashion parade.

“They’re choosing their own outfits to suit their own personalities and we can’t wait to see them put on their show.”

Julie Potter said she is going to shine in her outfit.

“I feel nice in what I’m wearing and in the accessories,” Ms Potter said.

“I will make sure I hold my head high when I walk down the catwalk.”

Members of the community are encouraged to attend the fashion show at the Endeavour Foundation Retail Store, 9/11 Dollery Road, Capalaba and pick up a bargain while they’re there.
