Local commercial vegetable seedling Nursery, Withcott Seedlings, has said that people with a disability are an invaluable part of their workforce, following a partnership with Endeavour Foundation.
Highlighting the team’s meticulous methods and attention to detail, which have led to unforseen efficiencies, Mike Hindle, CEO of Withcott Seedlings, said that his organisation’s culture of respect and understanding has been enhanced through the partnership.
“The team from Endeavour are always happy and respond positively to instruction and training particularly for more detailed work. We do not see or treat the Endeavour team any different to other employees as they have a great deal of pride in the work they do. I can thoroughly recommend the Endeavour Foundation employees to other employers as it is a great opportunity for both parties to achieve their respective work goals."
David Heathcote from Endeavour Foundation said that the partnership has been a huge success for all involved. The diversity of opportunity has kept supported employees really engaged, while the chance to work out in the community has allowed them to enjoy the experience of a mainstream – albeit supported - working environment,” David said.
“We appreciate the fact that the management of Withcott Seedlings have so readily recognised the achievements of supported employees, giving them the confidence to keep trying new things.
“The Endeavour Foundation team love coming to work every day where they can contribute to their community and develop personal skills, including communication, time management and organisation, as well as those directly related to their role.
“This kind of experience is crucial in terms of building the sort of skills they will need to transition to the open job market, if and when they are ready.
“We’re incredibly proud of this achievement, although not surprised – the local team are meticulous in their work. It’s because of their commitment that we are able to guarantee consistent and high quality services to all Endeavour Foundation customers. Sincere thanks to all local businesses who continue to support our work in the region, and provide new and exciting opportunities for the 142 supported employees working at our site.”
