Endeavour Foundation praise heart of Lions

11 August 2016

Members of Endeavour Foundation’s Sunshine Coast Area Committee have expressed their gratitude to the Buderim Lions club for their help in tackling a garden gone wild with palm roots at the charity’s Gloucester House accommodation service.

Committee Chair, Garry Bates, said that the support of the local community, including the nearby Manawee Nursery, was invaluable.

“Once Endeavour Foundation gave us the go-ahead, residents and staff at the Gloucester House property welcomed our team, and when you get a ‘high five’ from the residents after the job, you know you’re appreciated,” Garry said.

“The spirit of willingness of the Lions members was uplifting. Great camaraderie and banter were the order of the day, and we thoroughly enjoyed many a chat with local passers-by who applauded the clean-up.

“Street frontage garden beds have now been cleared of the shrubbery marked for removal, along with a host of tricky roots. With more work yet to be done down the side and rear of the property, we’re truly grateful that the ‘dream team’ have agreed to return next month to tackle the next phase of the operation.”

Endeavour Foundation is a diverse community organisation working together with people with a disability on the Sunshine Coast so that they have real possibilities to live life to the full, whether that means moving into a new home, gaining qualifications that help fulfil individual aspirations or finding a job.
