Endeavour Foundation applauds 'unprecedented' response to Chamber's Community Award

31 May 2016

With just days to go until this year’s Townsville Chamber Business Awards, Andrew Donne, CEO of disability service provider Endeavour Foundation, said he has been ‘bowled over’ by the number and quality of nominations to the charity’s Community Award.

“Endeavour Foundation’s Business Community Award received a staggering 24 nominations. The quality of applications and diversity of participants is unprecedented, and a demonstration of not only the Awards’ growing reputation but the community spirit that is so deeply ingrained within the local mindset,” Mr Donne said.

The Endeavour Foundation Community Award celebrates good corporate citizenship, with businesses delivering a project, program or activity that focuses on the likes of community development, the environment, social improvement, safety improvement or disaster recovery.

The Selection Committee, 1997 to 1999 Chamber President Fay Barker, current President Troy Popham and Young Chamber Committee Chair Kevin Booth, identified four worthy finalists for the Award. Get Branded, with its focus on community capital, ReefHQ, with its commitment to conservation, Westfund, through its recognition of everyday ‘Townsvillians’ who strive to make a difference, and Wilmar Sugar’s support of Ronald McDonald House NQ.

“The breadth and depth of the work that is going on across Townsville is truly inspiring. I applaud each and every one of the nominees – and everyone else working, however publicly or privately and on whatever scale, to make this community a better place,” Mr Donne said.
