Rabbitohs and Endeavour Foundation

22 June 2016

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are set to invade Cairns, but all in a good cause, as they host a free League Gala Day on 1 July for anyone with a disability.

Proudly hosted by Endeavour Foundation, the event is open to all ages and abilities. There will be modified games and Rabbitohs NRL players will be on hand as special guest coaches.

Endeavour Foundation Support and Operations Manager in Cairns, Shelley Henson, said it was a fantastic opportunity for rugby league fans.

“It’s not often you get one-on-one coaching from a professional NRL player, and that’s what the Rabbitohs are offering to local people with a disability.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the team for taking time out of their busy schedule. They understand that people with a disability deserve the chance to live their best life, and it doesn’t get much better than this!”

Tyson Muscat, Game Development Officer with the NRL, said that players are only too delighted to give something back to the local community.

“NRL supporters are second to none, so it’s a huge pleasure to be able to repay some of that energy and enthusiasm.

“Inclusivity is the name of the game, and we’re delighted to lead by example as we host this event for people with a disability.”

The event will take place on 1 July from 9 until 11am at Jones Park, Mann Street, Westcourt. Participants are asked to bring a water bottle, sun protection and anything they would like signed by the NRL players. To register please call NRL Development Officer Tyson Muscat on 0402 892 834.
