QLD Premier gives top awards to Endeavour Foundation’s long-serving supported employees with 90 years of combined service

28 September 2015

Premier Annastascia Palaszczuk has given top awards today to Endeavour Foundation Wacol’s long-serving supported employees with 90 years of combined service.

While visiting the organisation’s food packaging facility at Wacol, the Premier handed the awards to Barry Wright (40 years), Noel Morley (40 years) and Winnie Tse (10 years) for their wonderful commitment to their work at Endeavour Foundation.

Barry, Noel and Winnie are elated to have received their awards.

Barry enjoys working with his friends, and primarily works at hand-filling bags of food stuffs. Barry has a great work ethic – when asked what he liked about coming to work, he said, “If I don’t come to work, I don’t get paid.”

Noel is known for his friendly, outgoing personality, and has an important role in the food production line as he carefully labels all of the bags.

“I have many friends at work. I like labelling and one day I’d like to pack lollies,” Noel said.

Winnie is a hard worker who loves to sing while she works, and warmly greets everyone she meets.

Supported employee Joseph Hinton took the Premier on a guided tour this morning, as part of Endeavour Foundation’s special Open Day event celebrating Disability Action Week.

“We are very proud of our supported employees who have received long service awards, as they have given so much to Endeavour Foundation. We are focused on providing employment to people with a disability which in turn boosts their confidence, self-esteem and sense of purpose,” Endeavour Foundation Commercial Manager David Heathcote said.

“It has also been fantastic to see a great turnout of supported employees, parents, families, carers and volunteers at our Open Day today and we are grateful to all of them for helping to make the day a great success,” he said.

It is a Queensland Premier’s first visit to Endeavour Foundation’s Wacol site.

The organisation’s accredited $3.8 million food packaging plant at Wacol has been operating since 2013 and employs more than 220 people with a disability.
