Construction with Purpose: Key Project Doubles as Fundraiser

This uplifting story demonstrates how businesses of all types can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disability.

It began as a retaining wall project but became a powerful fundraiser.

Civil construction company Shamrock Civil turned one of its retaining wall projects into a mission for good while partnering with Endeavour Foundation. 

During the 10-week project in Townsville, Shamrock Civilcommitted to donating $1 to our cause for every hour spent working on the project, with contractor The RIX Group generously matching that contribution.

Shamrock Civil also hosted fortnightly barbecues on-site, welcoming clients and staff from our Townsville Learning and Lifestyle Hub in a true show of community inclusion. 

But the team didn't stop there. To push the total even higher, Shamrock Civil launched an online auction featuring 10 incredible items donated by generous suppliers. 

Smashing Targets

Thanks to logged work hours, online donations and shared generosity, the project raised an incredible $16,641. This surpassed the original target of $10,000.

Those funds will go directly towards purchasing brand-new furniture for the Townsville hub. Our Learning and Lifestyle Hubs are important places for people with disability to connect and learn, and being able to do so with added comfort makes a big difference.

“This was more than just a retaining wall project – it was a chance to build something meaningful beyond the construction site,” Shamrock Civil Senior Project Manager Nasser Zamara said.
