People with a disability in Kingston are reaping the rewards of an incredible partnership with Logan City Council, after staff arrived – paintbrushes in hand – to decorate Endeavour Foundation’s day service.
Andrew Chant, Support and Operations Manager with Endeavour Foundation, said that the local group was ‘delighted’ by the council team’s efforts.
"This service is all about empowering people with a disability to fulfil their ambitions and supporting them to access their community, so it’s particularly special to welcome members of that community in through our doors.
"We now have two beautifully redecorated activity rooms, complete with updated furnishings, and an opportunity for those who participated to see what their work means to the people we support. We all benefit when people with a disability are enabled to be visible and active members of our community."
As part of the council’s internal Team Top Health program, staff this year, as part of their annual ‘Santa for a Day’ activity, chose to carry out renovation work at Endeavour Foundation. Through a combination of fundraising, including raffles and a Bunnings sausage sizzle, and seeking corporate donations for material and equipment, they were able to give the facility a stunning makeover.
