With determination, a positive outlook and a supportive environment, Lucas’ career at Endeavour Foundation is flourishing. Here is his uplifting Supported Employment story.

I am Lucas, and I am thrilled to share my career journey as a person with disability.

My path has taken me from the packing rooms at Endeavour Foundation’s social enterprise sites – called Business Solutions – to my current role in marketing at their Support Centre in Brisbane.

My job means the world to me, and I am proud of how far I have come.

This is my employment story…

My journey began with Sarina Russo Job Access in Brisbane, where I learned about Endeavour Foundation.

From there, I had a trial period, which helped with a smooth transition to the workforce.

In fact, the trial period went so well that I can now say I have had the privilege of working at Endeavour Foundation for nearly a decade, both as a supported employee and supported independent employee.

I consider myself fortunate to be part of an organisation that truly understands my needs, including my semi-regular doctor’s appointments.

The respect I have been shown and the support I have received mean I love coming to work.

Growth and Achievement

Starting at Yeerongpilly and then Wacol Business Solutions, I worked hard and continued striving for more.

I transitioned from the packing rooms to front reception at Wacol and now am proud to be contributing to the Lotteries, Brand, and Transformations Teams at the Support Centre as a Marketing Assistant.

Writing is one of my greatest joys. Through Supported Employment, I have been able to write website articles, scripts, tax appeal content and more.

Having a job with Endeavour Foundation has led to other incredible experiences, including appearances on television and radio, as well as speaking at Annual General Meetings (AGMs), school assemblies and Parliament House.

What I Love Most

The best part of my job is the work that I do – there is so much variety.

Also, I love the positive difference that my role makes in not only my own life but the lives of others. I am proud to be a part of something bigger than myself.

Each day brings new challenges in marketing, and I thrive on the opportunity to contribute to my team and learn from others.

Looking Ahead

For much of my life, I have felt the need to prove my intelligence and capabilities – not just to myself, but to others.

I am proud of what I have achieved at Endeavour Foundation, and I have learned a lot during this time, but I feel like there is so much more for me to learn.

I am very much looking forward to these new opportunities and experiences that will help me grow even further.

And I believe that if I can find success, so can others like me.
