Launch of the Autism Employment Playbook, funded by Endeavour Foundation’s Disability Research Fund

Endeavour Foundation proudly celebrated the launch of the Autism Employment Playbook at the Autism Employment Forum, hosted at the University of Queensland (UQ), an event coinciding with the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). This groundbreaking research, funded by Endeavour Foundation’s Disability Research Fund, focuses on the job-seeking experiences of autistic people through Disability Employment Services (DES).

The Autism Employment Playbook challenges the 'one size fits all' approach to employment by highlighting the power of understanding individual needs. Tailored support is key to helping autistic people succeed and thrive in their employment journeys. By examining the unique challenges faced by autistic job seekers, the Playbook offers practical recommendations for creating meaningful pathways to employment.

“We want more people we support to have a paid job that is right for them,” Endeavour Foundation CEO David Swain said at the launch.

“By investing in research, we gain valuable insights into the challenges and needs of people, enabling us to provide tailored support that drives better employment outcomes.”

This research also demonstrates the incredible value of a diverse workforce. With the right knowledge and support, organisations can create inclusive environments where everyone’s unique strengths are celebrated, empowering all employees to succeed.

The launch event celebrated neuro-inclusion and aligned with Endeavour Foundation’s long-standing commitment to breaking barriers and creating opportunities.

“Together, we can build workplaces where diversity is sought after and celebrated,” David Swain said.

The Playbook and an Easy Read version are available below, providing valuable resources to support job seekers, employers, and disability service providers.
