Find the Right Housing Option
Understanding the difference between SIL-funded homes and SIL + SDA homes can help you find the right fit. All our Brisbane homes include onsite support staff, with the main difference being how the home is designed and funded through the NDIS.
You may also be eligible to live in a SIL + SDA home with SIL funding only, so it is worth exploring both options before deciding.

Common Questions
SDA funding is available to NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Our homes typically include people with intellectual disability, sensory or cognitive impairments (Improved Liveability category) or complex behaviours (Robust category). Your Support Coordinator or NDIS planner can assess eligibility and request SDA funding in your plan review.
Yes, SDA funding in your NDIS plan covers the cost of living in the specialist-designed home. You still pay a reasonable rent contribution (typically from your Disability Support Pension), but the NDIS funds the provider for the dwelling. SIL homes operate differently: you pay standard rent and the NDIS funds the support staff.
Improved Liveability is an SDA design category for people with sensory, intellectual or cognitive impairments. These homes include features like luminance contrast on walls and floors, improved wayfinding, better lighting, acoustic treatment and clearer sightlines, all designed to make the environment easier to understand and navigate independently. Most of Endeavour Foundation's Brisbane SDA homes fall into this category.
Robust SDA homes are designed for people with complex behaviours, including some people with autism or psychosocial disability. The home is structurally built to be more resilient, with durable materials, secure fittings, high-impact wall lining and safe outdoor spaces. The design reduces risk to residents and neighbours while still feeling like a real home.
Not always. Some of our Brisbane homes operate as SIL only; regular shared houses with 24/7 support that do not require SDA approval. Our specialist-built homes do require SDA funding in the NDIS plan. If you are not sure what is in place, call our team and we will help you work it out.
