Georgia’s Journey to Rewarding Employment

Discover how Georgia achieved her employment goals with personalised support from Endeavour Foundation through Inclusive Employment Australia.

When Georgia joined the Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program, she had a clear goal.

She wanted to return to work while building her independence.

With personalised support and plenty of determination, Georgia turned that goal into reality.

Here is how she did it.

Support to Build Skills and Find Work

Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) is a federally funded program that supports people with disability to build skills, find work and succeed in the workplace.

Endeavour Foundation is an intellectual disability specialist provider of the IEA program. We provide personalised support to jobseekers across Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, helping them build skills, secure employment and succeed with inclusive local businesses.

Georgia was the first person to join the IEA program through Endeavour Foundation's Burleigh Waters team on the Gold Coast.

From the beginning, she took the lead in her career journey.

Georgia reached out directly to the team at Swell Resort. Her positive attitude and friendly nature made a strong first impression.

With support from her Career Development Advisor, a work trial was arranged.

This balance of initiative and structured employment support gave Georgia a strong start.

Building Skills Through Real-World Experience

During her work trial, Georgia approached each task with focus and care.

She paid attention to detail and took pride in her work. The team recognised her effort and her willingness to learn.

The work trial gave Georgia the opportunity to build practical skills while demonstrating what she could contribute in a real workplace. It was an important step towards achieving her employment goals.

From Trial to Employment Success

Georgia’s efforts led to immediate results.

She was offered a role as a Housekeeper and Room Attendant on the same day as her trial. Her first shift began the next morning.

“I am so happy I finally have work and can make my own money,” she said.

Her team supported her to understand the expectations of the role and how to prepare rooms for guests.

To make the task relatable, they asked her to imagine she was preparing each room for her favourite singer, Keith Urban.

Georgia connected with this idea straight away.

She took pride in her work and focused on making each room feel complete.

Thriving in an Inclusive Workplace

Georgia quickly settled into her role.

She arrived prepared for each shift, bringing her own gloves, clipboard and checklist. Receiving her name badge was an important milestone.

As she gains experience, Georgia continues to grow in confidence. She is learning new tasks and working more independently.

Georgia has since progressed into a new role with Peppers Hotels. Her approach remains consistent, and she continues to take pride in delivering high-quality results.

She is now working towards travelling independently using public transport, building further confidence in her daily routine.

Why Inclusive Employment Matters

Georgia's journey shows what is possible when determination is matched with opportunity.

With the right support, people with intellectual disability can build confidence and secure rewarding roles.

IEA connects jobseekers with employers that value capability and contribution.

This approach supports people to develop independence and shape a working life that reflects their goals.
