Senator Jan McLucas will be at two public forums about the NDIS
Endeavour Foundation's Acting Chief Executive Officer has welcomed the long-awaited news that a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) bilateral agreement has been signed by the Queensland and Commonwealth governments.
"Queenslanders with a disability, families and support providers are thrilled that both governments have agreed to concrete commitments for the NDIS roll-out throughout the state," Mr Donne said.
"We appreciate that negotiations can be difficult when significant public expectations are at stake and there are large amounts of funding to be found," he said.
"We are pleased that Queenslanders with a disability can begin planning their future with certainty, in the knowledge that the NDIS will be available even in the farthest reaches of the state by 2019.
"The biggest social reform since the introduction of the age pension, the NDIS will change the lives of more than 90,000 Queenslanders with disability and their families. We are delighted that the NDIS will provide equitable support for all and give people with a disability control over all aspects of their support arrangements.
"This significant financial investment will also benefit our state economy, through the creation of 13,000 new jobs and by making it possible for more people with a disability and full-time carers to enter the workforce," he concluded.
