Two leading disability and community service organisations, Endeavour Foundation and Community Solutions Group, have announced they will join forces. The amalgamation will sustain services for the people they support, and ensure readiness for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Community Solutions and Endeavour Foundation will begin operating as one organisation today, 1 October 2014.
Endeavour Foundation Chief Executive Officer David Barbagallo said the amalgamation would create new opportunities for growth, innovation and diversification as one organisation under the banner of Endeavour Foundation.
"Endeavour Foundation and Community Solutions share a strong alignment of core values and a genuine commitment to providing quality person-centred services to the people we support. These values provide the foundation for us to create a stronger future together in the changing times ahead," Mr Barbagallo said.
"As one organisation, we will be better placed to ensure the people we support have access to services and choices they require to achieve control and independence. We look forward to seeing this become a reality under the NDIS."
Community Solutions Group Managing Director David Curd said Endeavour Foundation and Community Solutions' shared values, visions and aspirations made both organisations well suited to partner together.
"Community Solutions has always focused on enriching people’s lives through a person-centred approach," Mr Curd said.
"The amalgamation will provide us with a greater opportunity to support our communities through diversified services that best meet the needs of the people we support."
Mr Barbagallo said the organisations would continue to provide the same services in the same locations.
A Queensland-based organisation, Community Solutions Group provides support services and opportunities for individuals, families and communities in regional Australia. Community Solutions’ diverse range of services include: employment and assistance for people with barriers to employment, apprenticeships and traineeships, family support, drug prevention and public safety programs, as well as services for disengaged young people and people experiencing mental illness.
Endeavour Foundation was founded in 1951 by a group of parents who refused to accept that their children with an intellectual disability couldn’t be educated. Forming a makeshift school on a suburban verandah in Brisbane, these courageous people advocated for change and laid the foundations for one of the largest non-government disability services providers in Australia. Today this diverse community organisation provides accommodation, community access, respite, education, employment, skills development and recreation for people with a disability throughout Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
