Endeavour Foundation CEO Andrew Donne says the organisation strongly supports a Royal Commission into the abuse of people with a disability.

“As an organisation that has supported people with intellectual disability throughout all stages of life, we support a Royal Commission because we believe it could help to create a safer community for people with a disability,” Mr Donne said.

“People with intellectual disability experience abuse, neglect and exploitation in many areas of their lives, and it’s time that we as a society do everything we can to put a stop to it.

“We also support the significant work done by the NDIA and sector organisations to provide better safety frameworks for service delivery organisations.

“Every person and organisation who is involved in the lives of people with a disability must be vigilant about preventing abuse in its many forms.

“We will only make real progress when all parts of our society share a commitment to put an end to abuse, neglect and exploitation,” he said.
