Endeavour Foundation provides real life choices

The residents of Endeavour’s Martindale supported accommodation service share the housework, watch Home and Away, and spend their weekends shopping or going to the beach together.  What distinguishes them, however, is that they each have an intellectual disability and require 24 hour care from professional support workers.

Mark Trace, ATSSEndeavour Residential Senior Service Manager Michael Davy oversees the running of several Endeavour accommodation services.

“The flatmates here learn life skills and practice them within a supported environment.  This leads to better self-esteem and enables community integration,” he said.

“They are given more choices in life than they’ve probably ever had before; they actively participate in the planning of the household at weekly meetings, and they also help decide on their social activities.

The choices they are given, and the support they receive, helps to provide a better quality of life.”
