Together... We live

Emma White gained a Gold Medal for gymnastics at the 2000 Special Olympics.

Endeavour is committed to supporting clients with the development of their sporting pursuits and hobbies. A large number of service users and supported employees gain tremendous satisfaction, enjoyment and confidence participating in a multitude of sports. Some even compete on the world stage.

Emma White (left), a Latch-On® student, who now works at the Department of Natural Resources and Water in Brisbane, also loves sport. Ten-pin bowling, tennis and swimming are all part of her busy life, but her proudest achievement so far is a Gold Medal for gymnastics at the 2000 Special Olympics.

Leon and Jim Aarse from Woombye, who both work in the Maroochydore Business Service, have special connections with world-wide sporting events. Leon won gold in the 400 metre walk and bronze in the shot-put in the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai. Jim was one of only two Queenslanders chosen to participate in the Flame of Hope run which took the flame from Athens to Shanghai.

Ashley Parrott, a Supported Employee at the Bundaberg Business Service, is planning to travel to Japan to compete in the World Table Tennis Championships for people with a disability. Ashley practises regularly at the Table Tennis Centre in Bundaberg which he first joined at the tender age of eight. He took Gold Medals home from the 2007 Australian AWD Championships, one as the Men’s Class II Singles Champion and one for the doubles championship which he won with his partner, Victorian Steve Watts.

All participants in sports and recreation do so in the pursuit of achieving personal goals while having fun.
