Endeavour's latest recruit

Claire Barry is the latest recruit at Endeavour House in Cannon Hill, working alongside the Public Relations & Community Profile team every Wednesday afternoon on a variety of projects.

Claire is 34 years old and has been attending Endeavour services since she was the tender age of 5, and went to Radford Special School for her education.

Born into a large family of 10 children, Claire is the second youngest and has enjoyed the support of all her family, especially mother Sally, and is continually increasing her independence.

Claire likes to make the most of every opportunity to improve her social skills and work experience.

She spent an enjoyable three years working at Matters in Grey Hair Training Academy in Mount Gravatt where she joined her colleagues in learning hair dressing skills and often assisted trainees and Managers. The clientele at the salon loved having a chat with Claire over a cup of tea and the work experience had a very positive effect on Claire’s confidence.

When TAFE at South Bank began offering programs developed especially for people with a disability, Claire was one of the first to put up her hand to attend, and quickly enrolled in a Literacy program.

With many interests and the support of her family and Endeavour Foundation, Claire Barry continues to expand her work and social experiences and enjoy all that life has to offer.
