Amisham House
Endeavour’s Redcliffe residential, Amisham House, has recently received a full renovation.
What was previously a run-down, dreary and depressive building with inadequate kitchen, laundry and bathroom facilities, has now transformed into a beautiful home, with open living spaces, a view of the bay and place of sanctuary for the seven clients who live there.
Amisham House is one of many accommodation models that are being fully renovated as a part of Endeavour’s capital works projects; an area which has received very little Government funding. The aim is to bring the physical condition of Endeavour’s properties up to date with legal compliance, while vastly improving the clients’ living standards.
An issue Endeavour now faces is a lack of internal funding, with precedence taken to ensure that building codes are met, health and safety standards are achieved, and all work is approved by the local council of planning regulations. It is the extra homely touches that Endeavour funding simply cannot manage at present, such as gardens and furniture, which truly transforms its newly renovated buildings into homes.
Prize Homes Lotteries is a massive contributor to the funding of these projects, but we still have a long way to go. It is here that Endeavour calls on local community involvement from volunteers, donations, service clubs and community groups, to help their local Queensland Charity achieve that extra result.
