Students with a disability teaching Bundaberg adults to use computers

Tech-savvy students at the Endeavour Latch-On Program have taught free computer courses to local adults as part of Bundaberg’s Adult Learning Week.

Latch-On (Literacy and Technology Hands-On) is a literacy and technology post-school program for young adults aged 18-30 that enhances literacy, self-confidence, independence and work placement opportunities.

Students taught free one hour hands-on PowerPoint sessions on September 1st, 6th and 13th at the Latch-On service, Bundaberg.

Latch-On teacher Jill Lyle, said students enjoyed sharing their knowledge and skills.

“The students are very proud of the skills they have developed through Latch-On and are eager to help others to learn,” said Jill.

“No prior experience with computers was needed and it’s totally free and adults received one-on-one tuition.

For Jill it’s a special opportunity to see the results of her and the other teachers’ work.

“I have been an educator for 25 years and have found teaching the Latch-On program to be most rewarding as it is a comprehensively designed program that is student specific,” said Jill.
