Rally for fun and friends

Opportunities for people with a disability

Calling all car enthusiasts, the Great Endeavour Rally One Day, Fun Day is just around the corner.

Endeavour Foundation, responsible for the iconic Great Endeavour Car Rally and for supporting over 3350 people with a disability, has set up a short course fun rally for Saturday the 18th of February.

Kicking off at the Mt Alford Hotel, nestled in the picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland, teams will head off on a short course followed by the chance to let their hair down at the reunion and social night.

Rally Event Coordinator, Joel Stephens said the event is open to both those participating in the rally and those who want to see what it’s all about.

“It’s great to give the people who so generously support Endeavour Foundation a chance to have a bit of fun and catch up with old friends and to introduce new participants to the Great Endeavour,” Mr Stephens said.

“But the One Day, Fun Day is really just a teaser for the adventure that is the Great Endeavour Rally,” he said.

The rally, which is in its 25th year, will this year traverse some of the most spectacular country Australia has to offer, from Toowoomba to the Gulf of Carpentaria and back to Yeppoon.

It’s not too late to enter as the rally doesn’t kick off until July 9th.

Originating from a one- off bicentennial celebration in 1988, the Great Endeavour Rally has raised over four million dollars for Endeavour Foundation, which provides support for more than 3,350 people with a disability across 230 locations in Queensland and New South Wales.

The rally continues to be Endeavour Foundation’s largest single fundraising event, helping to raise money, as well as awareness, to provide opportunities for people with a disability.

In addition to the Great Endeavour, to celebrate the 25th year of the event, a Super Endeavour Rally is being added to the calendar to offer teams a bigger and better driving challenge and fundraising opportunity.

The Great Endeavour Rally is being held from the 9th until the 19th of July, with the Super Endeavour starting a week earlier on the 2nd of July, with entries closing on Friday 29th of June, 2012 at 5:00pm.
