Northgate's Kelly strikes gold (and silver and bronze)

Kelly Magee hasn’t long been with Endeavour Foundation Industries (EFI) Northgate, but she’s certainly made an impression.

The 37-year-old ten-pin-bowling enthusiast returned from the 22nd National Ten Pin Bowling Championships in Melbourne in June, where Kelly had a stellar performance in the Disabled Tournament claiming gold in the singles event and silver in her overall scores, calculated over her singles, double and team events.

Kelly’s efforts at the Melbourne event saw her break the Disabled singles record of 546 over three games when she scored an incredible 550.

Kelly’s successes haven’t stopped there – she recently returned from the Disability Regional Championships on the Gold Coast with gold, two silvers and a bronze medal.

Kelly has been bowling for 12 years and bowls most weekends with the Waltz Sing Matilda league at Mt Gravatt.

“I just love bowling,” Kelly said. “I think it’s great – it’s fun and a great way to meet people.

“And I also like winning trophies.”

Kelly encouraged others to get involved: “It’s something everyone can enjoy and it’s easy – you just need to ring your local lanes for league information.”

Kelly joined EFI Northgate in March. She works on a range of tasks including packaging, collating, bagging and quality checking.

“I joined Endeavour to have fun, meet new people and earn money,” she said.

EFI Northgate employs 140 people with a disability. It is one of 26 EFIs located throughout Queensland and Sydney. All proceeds go toward providing education, accommodation and employment opportunities to more than 3,400 people with a disability.
