Prize Home win lures family to Queensland for a fresh start

Queensland has welcomed an excited family of six from New South Wales after Rodney Matthews and Belinda Moulds won a $701,813 home from Endeavour Prize Homes.

The couple didn’t waste any time in packing up and leaving their rented home in Sydney for the charm of Bribie Island, despite neither having ever stepped foot on Bribie before the win.

Rodney said he and Belinda were enjoying their new lifestyle and hoped it would be a fresh start for them and their four children, who were still coping with the death of Rodney’s mother, who died just two weeks before the Prize Home draw.

“This has really changed things around,” Rodney said.

In addition to the Endeavour Prize Home the family also took home $30,000 worth of cashable gold bullion for buying multiple tickets in the draw.

The children started school this month and all are looking forward to enjoying Easter in their fully-furnished four-bedroom home at Banksia Beach, complete with a beautifully landscaped garden and private gazebo.

“I’m still in shock,” Belinda said.

“I feel like someone’s going to tap me on the shoulder and say it’s all a dream.”

The two, from Heckenberg, south-west Sydney, will certainly never forget the day they collected the keys to the Prize Home – Belinda’s 30th birthday.

“Not many 30-year-olds can say they own a house AND they’re debt-free,” Belinda said.

“It’s a great relief.” It was also a memorable occasion as it marked Belinda’s first time on a plane.

“My first time on a plane was coming to collect the keys to a $700,000 Prize Home! I can’t believe it,” she said.

The two leave family behind in Sydney but said that didn’t stop them moving to Bribie – it just meant they’d have lots of visitors come to stay.

“Everyone has said they’re coming to visit,” Belinda said.

Rodney, who is on a disability pension and who has two boys with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), said he bought Endeavour Prize Homes tickets as he liked supporting people with a disability.

“I’ve always supported Endeavour – I like helping people with a disability,” he said.

Endeavour Foundation provides accommodation, education, lifestyle and employment opportunities to more than 3,350 people with a disability throughout Queensland and Sydney.

Endeavour Prize Homes are one of the organisation’s major fundraising initiatives to help raise money to provide its vital services.

The current Endeavour Prize Home is an entertainer’s delight on the Sunshine Coast and is drawn the week of Mother’s Day – the perfect gift!

It is a contemporary fully-furnished four-bedroom home valued at $701,074, located at Chancellor Park, Sippy Downs. It boasts a gourmet kitchen with separate butler’s pantry/scullery, three living areas and a covered alfresco dining area overlooking the sparkling in-ground swimming pool.
