Opportunities for people with a disability
No one is allowed to treat you unfairly because of your disability. You have the right to be treated the same as everyone else.
You have the right to:
- life;
- be safe in emergency situations;
- be treated fairly by the law;
- make your own decisions;
- have your own money.
- have a private life;
- choose your own friends;
- your own opinion about things;
- choose your own religion;
- have a private relationship with another person;
- have sex with another person if you are both adults, and that's what you both want;
- get married if you and your partner want to;
- have children if you and your partner want to;
- live where you want to;
- live in the community;
- be as independent as possible;
- be able to use things that everyone else uses;
- a good education;
- get involved in politics;
- work;
- a good standard of living;
- the best possible health care;
- choose your own doctor;
- be invovled in sport;
- go to art galleries, museums, movies, plays and concerts;
- get extra help you need because of your race, language or culture; and
- belong to your culture.
