Celebrating Endeavour's vibrant history

In 1951 a group of Mums refused to accept their intellectually disabled children could not be educated and put up their hands to make a difference. 

Following the declaration by the Queensland Department of Education of “these children cannot be educated” the children were removed from school. 

The families gather outside one school in Bowen Hills, Queensland and discussed their options. 

Coming from all walks of life, they banded together and began a school on a veranda in Coorparoo, Queensland. 

They raised money through baking scones, holding chook raffles and doing whatever it took to ensure the most basic of human rights for their children; an education.

With their efforts the Endeavour Foundation was born.

Continuing the spirit of our founding families, with the support of the community we provide:

• 1,940 people with supported employment
• 596 people with full time accommodation
• 350 people with support necessary to live in their own homes
• 851 people with respite care
• 757 people with learning and lifestyle opportunities
• 295 people with post school education
