Runners embark on Endeavour Foundation’s 500 Summer Challenge
Endeavour Foundation’s annual 500 Summer Challenge kicked off at Helensvale Shopping Centre at 4:45am on Friday, 23 November.
After months of arduous training, approximately 380 runners across 19 teams set off on the 500km run that will take the athletes through Beaudesert, Boonah, Warwick and Toowoomba.
The first of the runners are expected to arrive at the hockey fields in the Condamine Sports Club Park in Warwick at approximately 12:30pm on Saturday, 24 November for lunch, after an early morning Boonah start.
The runners will spend their second night in East Greenmount before embarking on the last leg of their arduous journey that will take them to Gatton Shire Hall for a 7:00am breakfast.
The pack will then head off to Tent Hill before returning to Gatton to finish the event at Lake Apex around midday.
The final activities for the 2007 500 Summer Challenge will be a criterium around the park followed by a BBQ lunch and trophy presentations.
Teams involved in this year’s race are representing Toowoomba, Warwick, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Proceeds from the 500 Summer Challenge will go to Endeavour Foundation to support people with a disability.
