Around 20% of the Australian population has a disability, whether it's physical, intellectual, sensory or a combination of these. That's four million Australians with a disability of some kind.

People with a disability are valued members of today's society, contributing their skills and strengths within local communities.

What does it mean to have a disability?
Having a disability does not mean that a person is unable to learn, develop new skills or be an active member of the community. All people are able to learn, grow and adapt provided they are offered real choices and appropriate support.
