Endeavour aims to provide its older clients with the same choice, empowerment, integration, community inclusion and family support as it does for younger clients.

Currently Endeavour Foundation provides support to aging service users and their families in three main ways.

Community Aged Care Packages
Small packages of money allocated from the Commonwealth Government to Endeavour Foundation and other Service providers to enable service users 6-12 hours per week of in-home support.  This support is designed to keep people in their own homes as long as possible and does so by providing support with personal care, errands, basic house keeping, domestic chores, transport and companionship.

Endeavour Foundation is provided with this funding to provide support to aging carers who have a family member with a disability living at home with them.   More information about accessing this type of support can be obtained by visiting  (http://www.health.gov.au/internet/wcms/publishing.nsf/Content/ageing-commcare-cacp.htm-copy3 ) or by contacting Endeavour Foundation in your local community.

Limited direct access to these packages is available through Service Providers when they have vacancies available.

Restructure of Day Activities
Many Endeavour Foundation day services are recognizing the need for ageing service users to have alternate activity choices in order to maintain active participation in a range of social, recreational and community events.  In consultation with service users and their families a restructuring of a persons programme can generally be achieved.

For some people this may occur in the form of shorter days or fewer days of attendance, less physically or emotionally demanding activity choices and developing community partnerships with specific age care service providers to share skills and resources.  Supporting people to maintain an active interest in their preferred activities while maintaining the dignity of their own level of independence remains an important focus in the services Endeavour Foundation provides to aging service users.

Aging in Place
Endeavour Foundation is committed to providing continuing support to people in their preferred place of residence as their individual needs change as a result of aging.  While Endeavour Foundation doesn’t provide nursing care, in response to the changing needs of ageing residential service users, in Residential Services, where financial resources and staff skills allow, Endeavour Foundation is modifying the hours of staffing, enabling some residents to remain at home some days of the week.  Where necessary, physical modifications are being made to identified residentials to encourage continuing independence and enhanced safety for service users e.g.: hand rails, shower equipment, ramps and mobility aids.

Endeavour Foundation is continuing to investigate the aged care related needs of both current and potential service users.  The ability for Endeavour Foundation to continue to change its present services and expand the range of services available to most appropriately meet the aging related needs of people with disability while dependent upon the availability of financial resources remains a very high priority for the Organisation.

If you would like to discuss your age related needs or those of a family member with a disability, please contact your local Endeavour Foundation Disability Services staff.
